Neil Gaiman’s Death Script Reviewed!!!

June 5, 2007

VERY exciting script review over at Film Ick– Neil Gaiman’s DEATH screenplay! And from what I read, it sounds pretty amazing. The detailed review itself– very well written, btw– is full of spoilers, so be careful, even if you’ve read the graphic novel.

MY biggest complaint is the new title– DEATH AND ME. Umm, no. Let’s stick with “The High Cost of Living” please. The new one sounds way too cute for my tastes. Other than that though, all the points highlighted make it sound as though Gaiman has recreated the magic of his book perfectly… not that anyone had reason to doubt him.

I, for one, can’t wait for this film to happen. Shia Labeouf is considered a sure thing to play Sexton Furnival, now the question is, who is our DiDi? I’ve often said Kiera Knightley, but some folks look at me like I’m crazy when I suggest it. Who would you cast? Anna Paquin? Christina Ricci? Zooey Deschanel?

As always, I’m desperate to do some script reviews of my own here at Scramble Network. If anyone’s got a copy of this script they’re willing to share, I’d be ETERNALLY grateful. Send to

Gaiman directing Death?

May 29, 2007

Film Ick is reviving the rumor that Neil Gaiman himself will direct the adaptation of Death: The High Cost of Living, with Shia LaBeouf lined up to play Sexton Furnival and an unnamed actress close to accepting the role of Death herself ( here’s hoping its Kiera Knightley). The pic will be shot in the UK (but set in the U.S.) this fall/winter.

Is this the real thing, after years of similar rumors? Sure hope so…
