Thursday Evening Round-Up: The Veronica Takes Precedence Edition

June 8, 2007

Yeah, yeah, I know… there are a big number of readers here who have probably never even seen an episode of VERONICA MARS, and you’re all wondering when the regular blog posts start back up. I mean, wasn’t there some 80’s toy line that got optioned into a script today?

Seriously though, here’s all the news you probably already got somewhere else by now:

Oh, the new TRANSFORMERS theme song is sweet.

Sean Connery will NOT be appearing in Indy 4. Bummer.

The Speed Racer site is up and running!

Judd Apatow is being sued by someone who claims he stole the story for KNOCKED UP. We ain’t buying it. For a second.

CBR continues their weekly coverage of the big X-events.

Neil Gaiman is giving us a bit more DEATH confirmation. Puts a smile on the face.

AND… Chud’s got some interview snippets with Mr. Gaiman on the subject.

Enjoy 5 beautiful pages (plus cover) from Alan Burnett’s debut on SUPERMAN/BATMAN.

Continuing with all things Gaiman, three STARDUST TV spots are up over at the movie site. Click ‘Video’.

Shadowpact artist Tom Derenick is now DC exclusive.

Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are re-teaming on IMPERIAL LIFE IN THE EMERALD CITY. Sounds interesting.

The Broken Lizard team (SUPER TROOPERS, BEERFEST) have a new pic in production: TAILDRAGGERS.

MySpace Comic Books has an exclusive first look at Devil’s Due’s DRAFTED.

This one will get people talking: WB is adpating Orson Scott Card’s EMPIRE.

Newsarama’s got some clips with FF2 writer Don Payne.

Assassin’s Creed, for PS3, XBox 360, and PC, hits this November. Looks very, very good.

Is my favorite comic book company from when I was a kid, coming back? Valiant apparently returns, but sans MAGNUS, TUROK, and SOLAR. Not sure how to feel.

Whew… I think I’m caught up now. Maybe.

Comic-Con makes Film & TV Announcement

June 5, 2007

san-diego-cc.jpg

Here it is… the list of films that will be represented at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego! Superherohype makes a note that THE DARK KNIGHT was NOT announced… its pretty hard to believe that the Batman sequel WON’T be featured, so a later announcement will probably be made on that front. This is, after all, Comic-Con– the biggest event of its kind in the world, the place where studios roll out their movies to the core fanbase who help determine whether their project is the next 300, or the next CATWOMAN.

Here’s what we know you likely will see– I’ve bolded the panels Scramble Network plans to report from (there’s a lot of them!):

  • Alien vs. Predator 2: No Peace On Earth
  • American Gangster
  • Babylon A.D.
  • Balls of Fury
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Beowulf
  • The Bourne Ultimatum
  • Coraline
  • Fred Claus
  • Get Smart
  • The Golden Compass
  • Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
  • Heroes
  • I Am Legend
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Indiana Jones 4
  • The Invasion
  • Iron Man
  • Lost
  • National Treasure: Book of Secrets
  • Resident Evil: Extinction
  • Speed Racer
  • The Strangers
  • Stardust
  • Star Trek
  • Sunshine
  • Sweeney Todd
  • 30 Days of Night
  • Trick ‘r Treat
  • Wanted
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • White Out

Looks like a great year… expect plenty of news to be made in San Diego that week!

Watch AMAZING Mach V Video!!!

June 4, 2007

Here it is! The first video footage of SPEED RACER’S MACH V, with some great looks at the interior… not to mention plenty of clips from the press conference featuring Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Matthew Fox, and Susan Sarandon!

Click to see the Mach V and More!

Monday Morning Round-Up: Fast Cars Edition

June 4, 2007

Paul W.S. Anderson will direct the adaptation of SPY HUNTER, replacing John Woo and continuing his move towards car chaseĀ  films– before this starts, he’s filming Jason Statham in DEATH RACE 3000. No word yet on whether DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON is sticking around– he was attached to the project before the directorial change.

Check out the full plot synopsis for CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN.

Scott Porter, of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, has been cast as a younger version of RACER X (to be played by Matthew Fox) in SPEED RACER. We love FNL, so we love this news. Porter’s also a big comic buff– check out this Newsarama interview.

Here’s an interview with Tim Story, re: FF2. Biggest news: Puppet Master will likely be featured in FF3. That could be cool, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Namor or Mole Man.

Oh, and two new FF web sites: one for the video game, one for the animated series.

Danny Goldring has been cast in THE DARK KNIGHT, no word on the role yet.

See some new Transformers footage here. Click on ‘Exclusive Footage.’

And, you’re going to get to see Transformers even earlier… special early showings have been added nationwide on Monday, June 2nd.

Thursday Afternoon Round-Up

May 31, 2007

The Mach-5 has been revealed, and its pretty effin’ sweet! Go, SPEED RACER, Go!

SIN CITY 2 is still happening, but not anytime soon.

There will be a SHREK 4 & 5.

Newsarama’s got a great preview of WORLD WAR HULK: FRONT LINE #1.

The SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY animated movie will premiere at Comic-Con on July 26th.

Speaking of Comic-Con, here’s the full list of exclusive action figures you can grab while you’re there.

You’ll have to wait 2 less days– HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX has been moved up to open on July 11th.

TV Squad has a look at LOST Season 3 letdowns. We don’t agree with them, though, except for Eko’s death (kinda unnecessary) and the winter hiatus.

There will be a HERCULES film. Could be cool, obvs.
